Anyone else feeling totally overwhelmed about this time of the year already?

Seriously though, we’re not even fully into the silly season yet and I am already feeling bombarded from all angles – forms to fill in for school (for ALL THREE of them for next year), things to go to, ideas for the house that we’re so excited about but struggle to find the time to do, looking at pictures of people with their trees up.  You know how it goes.   Everyone else seems to have this all so much more under control.

As has become customary when these feelings arise, let me share our “currently” with you.

Listening To:  On Sunday night we flicked over to the EMA’s…  by accident.  We ended up watching the first 45 minutes trying to figure out who the hell all these people were and if we’d ever heard of them before.  All we recognised was Eminem who has made a rather unexpected come back and U2.  I’m only sort of joking.  Then we gave up (at 10.45) and went to bed wondering how bad we’re going to be at this when our kids are sitting up watching this.  Crazy I tell you.

Feeling Thankful For:  My clearer skin.  Decided to go off Roaccutane one month early because it’s clear enough and I’m really rather worried about my eyes.  Suffered a bit of withdrawal the first couple of days (crazy headaches) but feeling quite glad to have made it through and to have a face that I am no longer totally ashamed of.

Thinking about:  The 148 826 meals that the Share Hope Foundation has already managed to obtain (thanks to everyone who has taken part!)  They still want to make it to 200 000 meals, so if you want to get involved – please do!  Check this post if you need some more info.

Making:  How many “pallet projects” have you seen on Pinterest (or anywhere on the internet for that matter)?  How many of them tell you how much of a lass it is to find them, dismantle them and then sand them before you can actually use them?  Not many is my guess.  So we may only have paid R40 but flipping heck, you make up for the money not spent with hours of time.  And by you, I mean Seth.  BUT the up side is that he gets to make exactly what we need and that’s pretty cool.

Anticipating:  The holidays.  That wasn’t supposed to be in bold, but I’m going to leave it, because: holidays!  Seth has the benefit of getting the builders holidays every single year and even though I won’t take as much as him over that time, it’s going to be nice spending time at home getting to do all that we need to do while still having fun family time.

Eating:  We’ve been so good.  The whole of last week we didn’t snack in the evening.  Not even once.  This is HUGE because at least 3 times a week we’d find ourselves chilling on the couch, watching some series and inhaling a big packet of Nik Naks.  We’re totally making up for lost time this week though.

Watching:  We’re still loving The Walking Dead – such a good choice to watch it.  That being said, we watch two or three episodes at a time and then go straight to sleep.  Well, we go straight to bed but it takes me about 30 minutes to calm my mind down and stop assessing every little bit of security that we have on the house before I can actually sleep.  Not necessarily worried about a zombie apocalypse (but who knows right?) but just end watching it in a heightened state of “fear”.  It was getting to me.  So we’ve given it a bit of a break and started Arrow, The Flash and New Girl which has been great and lighthearted.  Also revisiting Modern Family – LOVE this show.  The family dynamic is just too familiar ha ha.

Loving:  Don’t know how often you frequent this space, but a while ago I wrote a bit of a birthday wishlist – one of the things on there was a little silver chain.  Despite making a list and putting it out into the universe, I didn’t get one ha ha.  But I finally found the cutest one over at Romeo Foxtrot and then two days later I got the sweetest little heart in the #flatwhitemeetup goody bag (from Angelheart.  I LOVE them!!  I may never take them off.  Seth always bugs me to get a “hobby” (because blogging doesn’t take up enough time) so I think collecting trinkets like this will be it.  Pretty awesome hobby.

  1. Oh boy, I think you know how overwhelmed I feel. Seriously this time of the year…. and wait till big school!

I love those pretties around your neck and December holidays and the builders break can not come soon enough.

  2. Ok, so I seriously love your blog. I stumbled upon it two days ago and it’s just so great. I am currently pregnant with my first and whilst extremely excited for his arrival, I’m nervous as heck. You really inspire me with your three gorgeous children. I weirdly feel like I can relate to a lot of the things you say.

Also, I can totally relate to the whole skin issue. I’ve been on oratane 3 times now. My skin hasn’t been great during pregnancy but does seem to be calming down now in the 3rd trimester. Oratane was the best thing ever. Yes, side effects can be crap, but finally having nice skin after suffering for so long is just so worth it. I am so happy for you that you have gotten to that point. May I ask how long you’ve been on your dose now? I would just be careful of coming off a month earlier. The first time I took it I didn’t take it for long enough, so soon after coming off my bad skin retuned. That’s why I went on my second round which helped me have clear skin for quite a few years.

Anyways, just wanted to say I love your blog. I will stop now because this is sounding too much like a lady crush haha.

    Monique 🙂
